T cell

1. Any of a group of immune system cells. Helper T cells coordinate the immune response against infectious microbes and cancerous cells, enabling the body to defend itself, while suppresser T cells suppress the immune response, preventing the immune system from attacking the body itself. 2. Lymphoid cells from the bone marrow that migrate to the thymus gland and develop into mature lymphocytes; syn.: T lymphocytes.
